I realize that this is just the opinion of one person (me), but honestly, if you really give a shit enough to adamantly oppose gay marriage, you’re kind of an ass hole in my book. Here’s why.
First of all, why do you even give a fuck? Seriously? How does this have any discernible effect on your day to day life? I’d really like to know.
Second of all, if you’re worried about gay people fucking up society, it’s the closeted ones you should be worried about, not the ones who are out and proud and fighting for gay rights. The ones who are out are just living their lives like the rest of us. The ones who are closeted become priests and molest your children. (I mean, I think that happens because we have created a damaging system where people are scared to come out of the closet so they act out in negative ways. And I certainly don't want to imply that all priests are gay child molesters, or that all closeted gays become child molesting priests. But you have to admit that this is problem we have in our society that we can help change by being a little bit more accepting of "alternative lifestyles.")
Third of all, you’re causing all these really smart, proactive, politically minded people to waste their time fighting for something stupid when they could be using their resources to help out with something important, like, I dunno, the war(s), healthcare, education, unemployment, womens rights, etc etc. (And I only mean it's stupid because it shouldn't even be a question. It's stupid that they HAVE to fight for this.)
Fourth, let’s be honest. Straight people in America don’t really have the best track record when it comes to marriage anyway, so who are we to judge? Half of us who get married end up getting divorced. So spare me from all your “Sanctity of Marriage” bullshit.
So really, if you really feel qualified to be able to tell people that the way you want to live (hateful and intolerant like Sarah Palin) is better than the way the gays want to live (fabulous and awesome, like Neil Patrick Harris), then really, take a good look at yourself. You are an asshole.
